My grandfather was born in Braga in 1934. He came to Canada in 1962 and never looked back. When he died, he left us his story — and, as it turned out, our right to a Portuguese passport. I had no idea where to start. Every government website I found was in Portuguese, referred me to forms I couldn't interpret, and assumed I already lived in Portugal.
